Zurich on Silk
Zurich is considered the city with the highest quality of life in the world – and belongs to the most beautiful ones. The city on the river Limmat and at the lake Zurich combines culture with nature, history with modernity, and tradition with economy. The foulard "Zurich" depicts Grossmünster, Chagall's church windows, Tinguely sculpture and the spring festival's "Böögg" as well as the world-famous mini-macarons "Luxemburgerli", the Prime Tower and Europe's largest clock face.
Designed by Zurich artist Karin Birkenmeier. Printed at the Mitlödi silk printing mill in the canton of Glarus, the last silk printing mill in Switzerland, which has since closed. Hand-rolled by seamstresses in the canton of Appenzell.
