Zermatt on Silk
The Matterhorn, after Mt. Everest the most famous – and arguably the most beautiful – mountain in the world, is the inseparable landmark and magnetic attraction of Zermatt. However, the "Zermatt" foulard not only depicts the striking mountain, but also the Monte Rosa massif, rock crystal, gentian, edelweiss flower and silver thistle, as well as wildlife including marmots, black-necked goats, and the iconic St. Bernard dog. Welcome to Zermatt!
Designed by Zurich artist Karin Birkenmeier. Printed at the Mitlödi silk printing mill in the canton of Glarus, the last silk printing mill in Switzerland, which has since closed. Hand-rolled by seamstresses in the canton of Appenzell.
